Central Regional kind of flew out from under everyone's radar in 2009 winning their first 14 duals of the season en route to capturing the B-South Championship and earning a Top 10 ranking in the final Asbury Park Press Top 10. With eleven starters back from last year's 21-5 team, the Eagles look primed to keep the ball rolling and continue their ascent.
Down low is the Eagles' lone returning District medal winner, sophomore Jalen Ramos, who had a stellar freshman season picking up 28 wins with 18 of them coming via fall. It will be Ramos and senior Ed Ruhnke, 27-5 in '09, sandwiching a lower half of the lineup that features eleven wrestlers in all who saw varsity action a year ago.
The upper half of Central's lineup is a strong group that returns five wrestlers with double digit win totals in 2009, including another sophomore that had a solid rookie campaign in Kalyph Hardy. He's joined by junior Tim O'Connor, and seniors Brandon Jaworowski, Ryan Murphy, and Walt Karasiewicz as a group that could all hit the 25+ win mark in 2010.

Wrestler To Watch: (So) Jalen Ramos
Ramos' freshman season saw him come up with some huge wins for the Eagles, the most memorable perhaps would be his 4-2 win over Wall's Steve Biserta to clinch the dual victory for Central over Wall. He also dropped some close decisions to several of the top 3-pounders including a 1-point loss to Region 5 runner-up Gary Siriday of Sayreville. With a full year to add some size and strength, Ramos should grow very nicely into the 103-pound weight class and will be a major player in the weight class in 2010.
DESPO's Outlook
Central was one of the surprises on the Shore in 2009 and not many predicted them to take B-South and crash the Top 10 in 2009. This year, with eleven regulars from that lineup back, the Eagles move from hunters to hunted as they'll have a competitive field in B-South trying to dethrone them, as well as fringe Top 10 teams looking to use them to break into the rankings. Coach Bischoff has gotten a lot out of his teams in the past, so he'll no doubt have this team amped and ready to go. They look to be the favorites to repeat in B-South, are strong contenders for a Sectional title, and could make a ton of noise at Districts. Definitely one of the team's to watch in 2010.

Central Regional kind of flew out from under everyone's radar in 2009 winning their first 14 duals of the season en route to capturing the B-South Championship and earning a Top 10 ranking in the final Asbury Park Press Top 10. With eleven starters back from last year's 21-5 team, the Eagles look primed to keep the ball rolling and continue their ascent.
Down low is the Eagles' lone returning District medal winner, sophomore Jalen Ramos, who had a stellar freshman season picking up 28 wins with 18 of them coming via fall. It will be Ramos and senior Ed Ruhnke, 27-5 in '09, sandwiching a lower half of the lineup that features eleven wrestlers in all who saw varsity action a year ago.
The upper half of Central's lineup is a strong group that returns five wrestlers with double digit win totals in 2009, including another sophomore that had a solid rookie campaign in Kalyph Hardy. He's joined by junior Tim O'Connor, and seniors Brandon Jaworowski, Ryan Murphy, and Walt Karasiewicz as a group that could all hit the 25+ win mark in 2010.

Wrestler To Watch: (So) Jalen Ramos
Ramos' freshman season saw him come up with some huge wins for the Eagles, the most memorable perhaps would be his 4-2 win over Wall's Steve Biserta to clinch the dual victory for Central over Wall. He also dropped some close decisions to several of the top 3-pounders including a 1-point loss to Region 5 runner-up Gary Siriday of Sayreville. With a full year to add some size and strength, Ramos should grow very nicely into the 103-pound weight class and will be a major player in the weight class in 2010.
DESPO's Outlook
Central was one of the surprises on the Shore in 2009 and not many predicted them to take B-South and crash the Top 10 in 2009. This year, with eleven regulars from that lineup back, the Eagles move from hunters to hunted as they'll have a competitive field in B-South trying to dethrone them, as well as fringe Top 10 teams looking to use them to break into the rankings. Coach Bischoff has gotten a lot out of his teams in the past, so he'll no doubt have this team amped and ready to go. They look to be the favorites to repeat in B-South, are strong contenders for a Sectional title, and could make a ton of noise at Districts. Definitely one of the team's to watch in 2010.
