2019 Season Preview

Head Coach: Owen Brennan (2nd Season / 5-27)

Returning Wins Leader from 2018
Joseph Zaccaro (21-13) & Curtis Lively (21-16)

Returning Career Wins Leader
Curtis Lively (55 wins)

Milestone Watch
Tyler Pepe needs 31 wins to reach 100 as a junior.

Fun Fact
This is the first time since 2012-2013 that the Eagle return more than one 20+ match winner.

Where They Open
12/15: Home Quad

Circle The Date
1/9: vs Pinelands  -  4 out of the last 5 duals between these two former division rivals have been decided by single digits.

There are just a few seniors in the room, but the numbers are up, and there is depth with experience pretty much throughout the lineup.

The Eagles look like they are most solid in the stretch from 126-152. Tyler Pepe, who had wrestled previously at St John Vianney, kicks the run off at 126. Pepe, a 32-bout winner last year, advanced to Atlantic City after placing 4th in Region 5. He's joined by returning District medal winners, senior Curtis Lively, and junior Joseph Zaccaro, both 21-match winners. Also back are Connor Shea and Nick Sura, who both started as freshmen last season. Keep an eye on Sura this year, who had 15 wins before suffering a late season injury that ended his year.

Up top, Vin Dallicardillo, Aaron Phillips, and Kyle Flynn were all regulars in the lineup as freshmen last season, and are working towards getting to the next level this year with that experience under their belt. Junior Kyzion Collins is a big and athletic heavyweight, and capable of having a really big year at 285. He won 14 bouts last season before having his year cut short. Junior Isiah Cooper and senior Troy Warren also saw extended time in the lineup last year, and junior Mike Monetti, a transfer from Colts Neck, helps make this a pretty deep group of upperweights.

Down low, Central will be very young. Anthony Veve and Charles Schwab are both experienced returners, and Anthony Wandras is a returning starter. They'll potentially be joined in the lineup by a host of frosh, including Chris Siller, Anthony Fraser, Timothy Savoca, Nick Campanella, and Jack Condello.

With the A-South schedule, there are some big challenges on the slate for Central. With a young, hard working lineup, they'll look to those matches to get them tougher for the postseason and the long haul. They're going to get their share of wins this season, and should improve on last year's win total, but with the youth they have, this is definitely a program that is trending upward.
